Shift Worldwide Achieves Significant Milestone in 'Startup' Life
Chicago-based startup Shift Worldwide LLC celebrates a big milestone as it transitions from a core group of partners working with freelance contractors, to a corporate structure with the addition of several full-time employees.
CHICAGO, IL, April 03, 2010 /E-Learning PR News/ -- The early life of a startup company has its ups and downs. On April 1, Chicago-based startup Shift Worldwide LLC celebrated a big up as it transitioned from a core group of partners working with freelance contractors, to a corporate structure with the addition of several full-time employees.
"The support we've received from business advisors, investors and others in the business community reaffirms the path we're on," said Shift Worldwide CEO Paul Trout, who founded the company in late 2008. "We're able to take this major step forward as a result of our early success and the confidence in our business plan by our investors."
Shift Worldwide combines a proprietary online meeting and event platform with event production expertise to produce virtual panel - vPanel - discussions around key business trends. Recent vPanel topics include corporate board governance, crowdfunding, how farmshoring can create American jobs, and how law firms can create and retain top female attorney talent.
Shift's platform utilizes webcams, chat and other functionality to give a live event "feel" to virtual meetings and events without sacrificing the interaction of live meetings.
Shift also works with companies and associations to produce seminars, conferences, meetings and other events for their employees and clients.
In addition, the company takes advantage of its meeting platform in its own internal day-to-day operations.
"We're a virtual company," Trout explained. "CIO Peter Wigren and I are in Chicago, while other members of the management team and our employees are located in Georgia, Michigan, New York and Wisconsin. We meet every day and as-needed, just like other businesses - but we can do it from anywhere in the world using our online meeting and event platform."
Shift Worldwide's new full-time employees include:
* Renee Walton, based in New York City, is Director of Strategic Partnerships. Walton works with companies and associations to help them develop cost effective means to communicate with and add value to employees, customers and members using the Shift Worldwide platform.
* Alison Law, based in Atlanta, is a Producer. Law is responsible for identifying timely topics and obtaining expert panelists for virtual panel discussions, and working with moderators and internal marketing personnel to coordinate pre-event activities.
* Mike Driehorst, based in Temperance, Mich., is Communications and New Media Specialist. Driehorst works with the Chief Marketing Officer to develop and implement the overall, long-term branding identity for the company, and leads the day-to-day marketing communication activities.
In addition to Trout and Wigren, other members of the Shift management team include Chief Talent Officer Jennifer Johnson, based in New York City, and Executive Producer Amy Westrup who is based in Milwaukee.
