Metropolitan Council selects Learn.com to Provide Technical Training, Certifications and Employee Development to Staff

Learn.com announced today that Metropolitan Council has selected Learn.com to provide certification training and employee development content to all five divisions of its organization through one centralized portal

SUNRISE, FL, January 16, 2010 /E-Learning PR News/ -- "By implementing Learn.com we will be able to save significant time and organize training among our employee base by providing a central location that users can easily access for electronic learning. Future plans call for the rollout of an employee development curriculum that individuals can use to grow within their fields. Everything will be collected and reported on through the Learn.com portal. It's a one-stop-shop," said Mike Murphy, Manager of Learning and Organization Development at Metropolitan Council.

The Metro Transit and Environmental Services divisions will utilize Learn.com to provide staff with technical training as well as Plant Operator / Engineer license and mechanical certification courses.

"Selecting Learn.com was a smart choice for the organization. We had 5 members on our selection team and Learn.com was the leader in each critiquing category. Learn.com was more user-friendly than many of the other systems we looked at and it provides us with an entire suite of features so that we did not have to purchase add-ons to get the system we wanted. We are looking forward to building a long partnership," concluded Murphy.

About the Metropolitan Council
The Minnesota Legislature established the Metropolitan Council in 1967 to coordinate planning and development within the Twin Cities metropolitan area and to address issues that could not be adequately addressed with existing governmental arrangements. Additional legislative acts in 1974, 1976 and 1994 strengthened the Council's planning and policy roles, and merged the functions of three agencies (the Metropolitan Transit Commission, the Regional Transit Board and the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission) into one — the Metropolitan Council.

The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning agency serving the Twin Cities seven-county metropolitan area and providing essential services to the region. The Council works with local communities to provide these critical services:
• operates the region's largest bus system
• collects and treats wastewater
• engages communities and the public in planning for future growth
• provides forecasts of the region's population and household growth
• provides affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals and families
• provides planning, acquisitions and funding for a regional system of parks and trails
• provides a framework for decisions and implementation for regional systems including aviation, transportation, parks and open space, water quality and water management.
