MISSISSAUGA, ON, CANADA, December 04, 2009 /E-Learning PR News/ -- The weeklong celebration includes, Storytellers, Literacy Star Awards, contests, activities, crafts, and a visit by children's author, Dawn Beaumont Lane. The public library at Sheridan Parkside lay silent and unused, out of reach by those that needed it so desperately. After months of negotiations, LEAP has now taken occupancy and will bring it back to life! The Powerful Literacy Center will be a full functioning, circulating children's library. LEAP, a 501 (3) non-profit organization is an all-volunteer agency. Visit www.leapofwny.og to see how you can help or to learn more.
Author, Dawn Beaumont Lane was born in England. As a child she suffered from dyslexia, which years ago, was a largely misunderstood learning disability. The ignorance of teachers, parents and other students caused her to develop very low self- esteem. Although she loved to tell and write stories, she would never show them to anyone. During a chance meeting in Florida, Dawn was introduced to Shirley A. Roe, managing editor of Allbooks Review. Shirley encouraged Dawn to give her the stories for evaluation. Pleasantly surprised, Ms. Roe convinced the author that, with a good edit, the stories were saleable. She introduced Dawn to Richard O'Brien of Realtime Publishing and Dawn's life took a very unexpected turn. Thanks to Shirley Roe, who saw past the grammatical errors and the spelling mistakes and gave her the encouragement, and the professional edit she needed, Dawn is now the author of two children's books, Fairy Glade and other Enchanting Tales and A Witch's Tale. Dawn has overcome her shyness and lack of confidence and wants to speak to other adults and children on how to overcome dyslexia and other learning disabilities, to live their dream.
