Thousands of Small Businesses Fail Due to Lack of Education
With the failures of so many major corporations, it is vital that the small business community survives to maintain the base of our economy. Too many entrepreneurs fail because of a lack of cash flow, but a great majority of those could have been prevented.

Called the true engine of our economic strength, too many entrepreneurs fail because of a lack of cash flow. Looking behind those failures shows that a great majority of those could have been prevented.
"In working with small business people over the last decade, I've helped many of those file their final return because of preventable mistakes," said Roger Pearson, a Sr. Tax Advisor for a major tax firm. "If they had just consulted a tax advisor or spent the time to get a basic business education, many of these would still be in business today."
The problem is that most people don't have 2-4 years and thousands of dollars to get a formal business education. Most need to know the basics in a short amount of time with a small budget. Seagull Technologies of Tampa, FL has recognized this need and recently introduced The FireStar Institute, an affordable web-based learning center that allows people to learn basic generic business information.
There are dozens of advertisements for business "systems" that will make people rich, but rarely succeed. The FireStar Institute believes there is a better way. They have set out to provide solid business knowledge that can be used by any occupation, regardless of whether someone wants to build their business on-line or on main street America.

The FireStar Institute has created a nine part series of basic business courses covering business concepts, marketing concepts, time management and money management. In addition, there is a series of advanced courses, with more being added each month. The advanced courses include titles such as 'Working with the Press' and 'Tax Implications for Sole Proprietors'.
