Little Bird Tales Launches Online Service for Kids to Create, Record and Share Personalized Books Online
Through new online service, Little Bird Tales (www.littlebirdtales.com), children can upload photos or create artwork, record their voice to tell the story and then share electronically with family and friends
ORANGE, CA, September 13, 2009 /E-Learning PR News/ -- Little Bird Tales (www.littlebirdtales.com) officially launches with a first-of-its-kind service for kids to create, record and share stories online. The new kid-friendly website is a cost-effective and eco-conscious alternative to creating photo books as keepsakes through online services. Little Bird Tales encourages creativity and fosters reading and writing skills by allowing kids to be a part of the storytelling process, while providing parents with a "green" alternative to how they share and distribute their family memories.
Here's how it works in three easy steps:
1) Parents work with kids to decide on what kind of story they want to share. It could be about the latest family vacation complete with family photos or left up to the imagination where kids can use the proprietary art pad application to draw or alter their own illustrations.
2) After the photos or artwork is uploaded, or drawn on the website, parents of young children can help kids narrate each slide and even record their voice telling the story. Grade school kids with computer experience can do it all on their own.
3) Once a tale is complete, it is archived in your library as a personalized slideshow book and can be shared electronically with anyone. There is also an address book application that allows for easy import of contacts with photos so even the littlest of users can select and send to recipients easily.
The idea for "Little Bird Tales" hatched one day when parents Amiee and Mike Klem set out to find an online service to publish their 4-year-old daughter's self-illustrated stories electronically and share them with family and friends. After hours of scouring the Internet, the Klems couldn't believe that a kid-friendly service like this did not exist and decided to create one of their own. After many late nights and investing precious life savings, the Klems launched Little Bird Tales as the first service for kids to create, record and share their stories online.
"When we set out to create Little Bird Tales we were looking to fulfill a need that we had as parents to capture our daughter's imagination and voice in a digital time capsule that we could cherish forever and also easily share with long distance relatives," said Amiee Klem, Co-Founder of Little Bird Tales. "We had used personalized book making programs in the past that were just too expensive to print and share, and we also wanted to include kid-friendly features that would enable young children to become a part of the creative process as well."
One of the goals that the Klems had for Little Bird Tales was to promote environmental awareness by utilizing this method of "green" book making. By using the service in this way, parents can teach children to be creative without using precious natural resources and can also practice what they preach by becoming more eco-conscious in how they share their family memories. Future plans for the service includes the incorporation of eco-friendly tips, crafts, donations and learning-based games so that LittleBirdTales.com can serve as a safe online hub that children can visit to express their creativity and learn environmental awareness at the same time.
Parents can sign up for a free 90-day trial account to get started instantly or can subscribe to Little Bird Tales for one year and 100 MB of storage space for only $24.95 a year. To celebrate the launch of the site, Little Bird Tales is hosting an online contest where kids can submit an ending for their tale "How Little Bird Got His Name" that includes a name suggestion for "Little Bird," a picture, text and audio. One lucky winner will be selected to win $250 cash, $250 donated to the environmental charity of their choice and a free 3-year membership to the site.
