OVU Celebrates 50th Anniversary By Offering Discounted Summer Courses
Ohio Valley University is reducing the tuition rates for its summer courses to $50 per credit hour to celebrate the institution's 50th anniversary.
LOUISVILLE, KY, April 17, 2009 /E-Learning PR News/ -- Ohio Valley University has announced that it will celebrate its 50th anniversary by offering its own version of an economic stimulus package in the form of deeply discounted summer courses. In recognition of the impact of a sluggish economy, OVU is offering both on-campus and online courses this summer at only $50 per credit hour.
"We recognize how challenging it is in these economic times to afford the costs of higher education and, at the same time, how critical it is for students to pursue a college education in order to qualify for good jobs," said Dr. Jim Bullock, OVU Vice President for Academic Affairs. "Lowering the rate for summer classes is one way to help students meet this challenge while celebrating our 50th year as an institution of higher learning."
Courses offered at the discounted rate include the following:
Summer I
(on campus May 11-22): Accounting I, accounting EXCEL lab, computer applications for ministry, intro to education, WV history, Western literature since the Enlightenment, management info systems, and personality theories
Summer II
(on campus May 25-June 5): Accounting II, classroom management, tech apps in education, English Composition II, human growth and development
Summer III
(online June 8-July 31): art appreciation, scheme of redemption, intro to business, economics, educational psychology, personal finance, Western Civilization II, principles of management, principles of marketing, and general psychology
(online June 8-July 3): Asian history
(on campus June 8-July 31): physical science, intro to astronomy
Anyone who meets university admissions standards is eligible to enroll this summer in one course at the discounted tuition rate of $50 per credit hour. All applicable fees, such as a technology fee for online courses, will apply as usual. Students may take additional courses at the normal summer tuition rate of $350 per credit hour plus applicable fees, which rate itself is lower than OVU's standard fall and spring rates.
