Mount Wachusett Community College offers a Computer Literacy Program in partnership with IDL Systems

MWCC Enhances Educational Access For The Community With a Proven Methodology

BOSTON, MA, November 09, 2008 /E-Learning PR News/ -- Mount Wachusett Community College has teamed up with IDL Systems to provide an accelerated Computer Literacy Program available to residents of the north central region of Massachusetts. The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³) exam, the world's first validated, standards-based exams for basic computing and Internet knowledge, will be made available to students who successfully complete the program.

The Computer Literacy program will be offered at nights, and is designed to provide individuals with sufficient Internet and computing literacy skills for career advancement, to enter the job market, or to begin higher education programs. The program will be delivered in a blended model by combining face-to-face instruction along with an online course. The online courses will use IDL's unique adaptive learning - a system that adapts to the learning styles of each student.

The unique blended methodology has proven success, reaching up to 91% completion rates when the accelerated program was first introduced to over 11 sites - including 3 community colleges - last summer in 2007 and tested to over 400 students.

Successful completion of the Computer Literacy Program prepares students with the knowledge and skills required for basic use of computer hardware, software, networks, and the Internet.
Students will receive a certificate of completion from MWCC's Division of Lifelong Learning & Workforce Development. Registrations are now being accepted for courses beginning in February at the Gardner campus.

For more information about upcoming courses, please contact the MWCC Enrollment Center at 978-630-9284, or enrollment@mwcc.mass.edu.
