DEBATEPEDIA WINS GRANT FROM ETHICS AND EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM FOUNDATION

Foundation Grants IDEA $30,000 for the Further Development of Debatepedia in 2009.

/E-Learning PR News/ - NEW YORK, NY, August 27, 2008 -- The International Debate Education Association (IDEA) obtained approval from the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation for a $30,000 grant to support its online resource, Debatepedia, in 2009. The grant marks a major stride for Debatepedia and its mission.

The Foundation and Debatepedia share a common mission to address a challenge in the journalism industry: "Public debates" around the world are typically scattered across hundreds of newspapers, magazines, journals, and other web resources. Debatepedia uses open-source technology to centralize public debates from around the world into a comprehensive encyclopedia of pro and con arguments and expert opinions with the goal of aiding in informed citizen discussion and decision-making. Ethics and Excellence in Journalism President Bob Ross says, "The Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation is proud to support Debatepedia. The site is innovative, informative and provides a great resource for journalists and citizens alike." The Debatepedia resource can be found at http://wiki.idebate.org.
