Washington DC, July 29, 2008 - Psychologist, Dr. Ina Patton and her husband, 13 year NFL veteran Marvcus Patton started the company, Girls Like Math, because they were inspired by their desire to raise their two little girls to believe they can do anything in life with no limitations, and frustrated when shopping for clothes for their two little girls. "We can often find clothes that say 'Little Hottie', 'I am Sassy' or 'Cutie,'" Dr. Patton said, "but you rarely find cute and stylish clothing for girls that send positive messages such as 'Girls Like Math'" or 'Girls Dig Science.'" We feel it is important to fill that need, and get an early start in telling our little girls they can do anything they choose to do. "
The first products from Girls Like Math include the t-shirts "Girls Like Math," "Girls Dig Science," "Girls Build Computers," and "Girls For President." Each original design features drawing of two little pony-tailed girls doing math, science, etc.
The purpose or mission of Girls Like Math is to tackle gender stereotypes and promote positive images for girls with cute, stylish clothing, fun books, exciting educational games and much more. The characters were created and painted by Dr. Patton as artwork for her daughters' room. Girls Like Math currently sells its t-shirts on its website www.GirlsLikeMath.com.
